The Exhibition was opened on Saturday 18th April by our very own Past President Moira May with a fantastic turnout on the day!

We thought you might be interested in a few facts and figures from the exhibition as follows :

• In total over the period 18th April – 14th May there were 1197 visitors
• There were 145 works of art on display
• 60 artists exhibited their work and there were 30 pieces of art work sold.

Awards

Pauline Muir won the Gregor Ian Smith award for her beautiful ceramic “Petrels in the Moonlight” (photo below on the left). The theme for this year was `Creation` and next year we hope to indicate which works of art have been entered for this award by using a coloured sticker. 

The Hamish Montgomery Award for the entry deemed best in show was won by Emma McMullen for her painting of the “The Cloisters at Glasgow University” (photo above right).

Our committee member Jim Dunn was awarded the Millennium Bowl (which is awarded to a member of the BAC classes who has been judged to have made the most progress over the course of the past year) for his picture in pastels called “Climbing Dumgoyne” (shown below on the left).

And also our new Under 50s award was won this year by Katie Allison for her painting “Pomegranates” (shown above on the right).

Well done to all of the prize winners..... it’s a great confidence boost to be officially recognised for your talents!!

We were also delighted by the response to our newly introduced Thursday afternoon handback /afternoon tea on 14th May. It turned out to be a very sociable occasion and it meant the Saturday was very straightforward. A big thank you to everyone who supported it. 

The People’s Choice Award was given to Val Cooper for her acrylic painting entitled “Moorhen’s View”.

Well done Val and it will be exciting to see your painting on next year’s posters.
