Art Classes

We offer annual art classes for members running from October until March, totalling 20 sessions per year. Classes are open to all members and we contract experienced artists to provide diverse instruction and demonstrations.

You can apply for classes using the form in the Members Area of the website. Early application is recommended due to high demand, spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Applications should be submitted from September 1, 2025

Cost

The class fee is £110 for 10 classes and members provide their own materials. With a maximum of 16 members per class, all skill levels are welcome. Our tutor gladly mentors all artists, from beginners to the most experienced members, encouraging growth and development.  

This year we have Johanna Logan (Wednesday and Friday mornings). New members joining now should ask about availability for class membership.

The Millennium Bowl Award

The club has a prize, awarded at the Annual Exhibition, to the class member who is judged by the tutors to have made the most progress in the course of the year. 

The Millennium Bowl was donated to the club by a former tutor, the late Peter Connolly when he retired, demonstrating the close association between club and tutors which has been a feature of Bearsden Art Club for many years.

Johanna takes classes face to face on Wednesday and Friday mornings at Baljaffray Parish Church starting in October. Johanna has set out her approach in the following statement:-

"I encourage pupils to try new ideas and mediums through demonstrations, while at the same time supporting you in your current medium and paintings."
